A New Year But Smaller Goals

Happy New Year!
2024 is finally here, with a fresh blog space, and the first blog post of the year! This year will be a year of change, growing and evolving for many of us, whether you like to follow the ‘new year, new me’ aspect, or creating those all important smaller goals to stick by, taking the pressure off slightly!
I have continually seen various thoughts around the New Year and what others would like to achieve to take forward into 2024, even though it is good to have larger, more aspirational goals to work towards, I have seen people focusing on the smaller, more achievable goals that can be worked into your everyday life.
For me personally, I choose to stick to the smaller goals, the ones that will make me feel accomplished each day. Nevertheless, I do have larger goals this year, like most importantly graduating from University! A little contribution each day towards my uni work, with time for smaller, self-care goals, which will in turn, make doing the assignments easier, and my daily to do lists more manageable.
Making time to rest, relax and do some self-care, making time to see friends and family, making time for hobbies, reading, blog writing and solo date days. Education and work life can be so easy to become so heavily consumed in. So, I suppose, one of my continued goals will be balance. Having balance is definitely something I aimed to do last year, and as a result, allowed me to feel on top of the heavy workload, allowed me to have space to switch off and rejuvenate. Not the kind where you are trying to relax with the underlying guilt you should be completing your to-do list! The real kind, where you let yourself just be, and enjoy the little things, the time where you can treat yourself. Without a doubt, it will always make me feel more motivated and ready to complete those tasks on my to do lists.

Not everyone will feel the need to even make goals, and some people will love the idea of a whole new year being a fresh start. This time of year does feel as though we should be slowing down, as the days are colder, still dark and gloomy, and meaning it can be hard to find motivation. Feeling the energy of each season, and taking it in our stride to make the most of it whilst we are in it! Chilly walks, more hot drinks or switching off from tasks earlier in the day, if you can, all allows you to go through the winter motions. As each season will bring new emotions, new goals, new chances, and new experiences.
But if you are in anyway like me, and sometimes feel the pressure of life, remember every day is a fresh start, and you don’t need a whole new year to implement new goals in your life. And most importantly, listen to what YOU need and what will fulfil and benefit you the most!
